Meditation

What is meditation?

While to most Indians, meditation does in no way need a definition or description, nonetheless, it is helpful to have one for the purposes of clarity. In short, meditation is a practice that involves both the mind and body. This refers to the interactions between the mind, brain, behavior and brain. The practice helps the person doing it in a wide variety of ways as we will later discuss in the section on the benefits of spiritual meditation.

There are many types of meditation like chakra meditation, mindfulness meditation etc. However, there are several things that are common to almost all forms of meditation. This includes:

Having a location with a minimal amount of distraction like a meditation room

A particular position which the person doing meditation should find comfortable

Something to concentrate your mind on, like mantras, objects or breath

And lastly an open mind with the ability to let distractions come and go in a non-judgmental way
